Market Information

How do financial markets work?

Prices are set by supply and demand, and are affected by economic and political events and by company results.

  • Follow economic news and reports regularly.
  • Understand how currencies, commodities and indices relate to one another.
  • Rely on trustworthy sources before deciding.

What is the difference between the local and global markets?

The Palestine Exchange is a local market with set trading hours and a limited number of listed companies, and trades are settled in US dollars. Regional and international markets are broader and more liquid, and differ in currency, hours and commission structure — they require a separate global markets account.

What moves currency prices?

Interest rates and central bank decisions, inflation and employment data, energy prices, and geopolitical events. The currency market is open almost around the clock from Monday to Friday, so news reaches prices quickly.

How do I read a buy or sell order?

A market order is executed immediately at the best available price; a limit order is executed only at your price or better. It is good practice for every order to carry a stop loss that fixes the maximum loss in advance.

Where do I find official market data?

Listed company disclosures and financial statements are published through the Palestine Exchange and the Capital Market Authority, which are the official reference. For your own balances and positions, the account statement issued by the company is the authoritative record.
